ABOUT
Artist
Nandy Versátil is an independent Dominican rising star in the Bachata music world, bringing a fresh and unique sound to the genre. Singing tales of love, longing and life with a voice as deep and rich as the mountains of his homeland. Nandy was raised under the soundtrack of music as his mother was constantly filling the air with the beats of Bachata, Merengue, Vallenato Bolero, Balada and other genres that would come to shape his soul.
Early Life
As a young boy, he would watch in awe as his grandfather's friend “Silvestre” was playing the accordion and serenading the town with the traditional rhythms of Merengue Tipico.
At the age of 10, Nandy moved alongside his family to New York City where his musical calling would start revealing itself. The city’s bright lights and beating heart would open his eyes to new sounds and new styles - from the emerging beats of reggaeton to the raw energy of hip-hop and the melodic pop of American music. This led to him to writing and recording his own music at the age of 12, which in turn quickly gained him popularity among his peers.
Nandy's love for travel has been a constant throughout his life, and has been a significant influence in shaping his music. His travels to different parts of the world have inspired him by exposing him to different cultures and music styles. From the vibrant streets of Europe’s cities to the beaches of Latin America, these trips have shaped his unique perspective on music and life. Nandy has been able to incorporate different sounds and rhythms into his music, giving it a truly global feel.
His travels have also allowed him to connect with fans and audiences from all over the world, and he has been able to witness firsthand how his music resonates with people. This has been one of his most powerful motivators for him, and he is determined to continue traveling, performing and connecting with fans whenever possible.
Albums
In the summer of 2021, Nandy released his debut album "Flow y Pikete” - a compilation of 18 tropical urban songs that can be incorporated into various popular dance styles including Bachata, Cha-Cha-Cha, Salsa, and Kizomba. The album was recorded during the 2020 pandemic, where Nandy spent a lot of time on the beach, exploring new sounds and fusing them with the traditional rhythms of his homeland.
His second album "LA MELMA" is a full Bachata project released in 2022 and was created in collaboration with producer Joselito El Mutante. This project is a stepping stone for the genre, as Nandy explores new sounds and lyrical styles. The album is the result of the connection and experience that Nandy and Joselito have - two guys born in the Caribbean, building a new universe with pieces of materials they brought from the islands and everything they find along the way, a journey of self-understanding and romantic relationships.
Acting
Nandy's love for the arts is not limited to music alone. He studied theater and acting for camera while in school. His acting pursuits led him to join off-broadway productions, record commercial voice-overs, and even pursue modeling. Nandy’s first big screen appearance was as a featured boxer in the 2015 movie “The Challenger”, alongside actor Michael Clarke Duncan. This experience helped him develop stage presence and elevated his understanding of how to perform in front of an audience.
Nandy has been putting all of his energy into writing, recording and performing music, but still, he intends to return to acting in the future, as he believes that acting and music are two sides of the same coin and are both of equal importance to him. Overall, Nandy's background in acting has been a significant influence on his musical career, helping him develop better stage presence, and growing his understanding how to interact with the audience when performing.
Nandy’s music has been well received by both critics and audiences, with many praising his unique style and innovative approach to Bachata music. Fans have described his craft as "genius" and "a fresh sound that takes Bachata forward," while industry professionals have noted his "brilliant" style, comparing him to artists like Aventura and ” Omega”.
Nandy has performed at various international Bachata congresses and local events, solidifying his place as a rising star in the Bachata world. His music is frequently featured in choreographed fans’ videos from around the world, as well as some of the most recognized Bachata dancers in the industry.
